Nako Lake is a high-altitude, mystical lake situated in the quiet village of Nako in the upper Kinnaur district. Flanked by willow and poplar trees, the lake is surrounded by barren, wind-swept mountains and historic Buddhist temples. The water is pristine, reflecting the clear blue skies and the dramatic mountains. It is considered sacred by the locals, and legend says Guru Padmasambhava meditated here, leaving footprints on a rock nearby. In winter, the lake freezes completely, turning into a natural ice rink.
