Valara and Cheeyappara are twin waterfalls located on the scenic Cochin-Munnar highway, serving as a beautiful welcome to the hills of Munnar. Cheeyappara Waterfall cascades down in seven spectacular rocky steps, presenting a stunning visual sight. Nearby, Valara Waterfall is surrounded by dense, lush green forests and drops from a steep cliff. These roadside waterfalls are popular stops for travelers to take photos, enjoy fresh coconut water, and stretch their legs while enjoying the cool, mist-filled mountain air.

Responsible Travel & Etiquette

  • Do not attempt to climb the slippery rocks near the waterfall cascades; it is highly dangerous

  • Keep the roadside clean; do not litter plastic bottles or snack wrappers

  • Watch out for moving highway traffic while taking photos from the roadside viewpoint

  • Do not feed the local monkeys near the waterfalls
